Landmark Therapy Group is a group therapy & counseling practice in Crystal Lake, IL serving individuals, couples, and families across McHenry County.

We are available for in-person therapy at our Crystal Lake office, located at 760 McArdle Drive Suite G, Crystal Lake, IL 60014. We also provide online therapy for anyone living in Illinois who can’t make it to our office.

Our practice is built on the belief that individual needs are best served with individualized support. Every person who walks through our doors is met with a holistic approach to mental wellbeing that honors their unique experiences, needs, and goals.

Our Story

Landmark Therapy Group was founded by Jason Sterwerf, LCPC, after over a decade of frontline work serving the McHenry County community. As a father of seven he saw firsthand how difficult it can be for parents and families to access quality mental health support for themselves and their children.

Jason founded Landmark to be a foundation of hope and healing in the community, expanding the availability of quality and professional mental health services. Today the practice has grown to be the home of multiple clinicians, each uniquely positioned to support clients across a wide variety of circumstances and challenges.

The practice continues to grow and expand its range of services and supports, but the founding principle has never changed: therapy works best when it's built around the individual person.

All the training and expertise in the world is only as good as our ability to listen to and understand the person in front of us. You set the direction. You define what success looks like. We bring the tools, the structure, and the compassionate accountability to help you get there.

We keep learning.

Our therapists continually pursue ongoing training and education in their respective fields. Each member of our team is supported to engage in individualized professional learning and development that aligns with their own unique skills and specialties.

This allows us to match our clients to the therapist that is an expert at supporting their specific needs and therapeutic goals.

We treat the whole person.

We take the time to go deep into understanding what our clients are facing. What patterns keep arising? What stories are being subconsciously repeated? What role do external circumstances play? And how can we move beyond just talking about it to facilitate transformative positive change?

At Landmark, we are also continuing to expand our Alternative Care offerings beyond traditional talk therapy.
